Compressing 3-Week Due Diligence into 48 Hours
3 weeks of research. Compressed to 48 hours.
The Challenge
A mid-market private equity firm managing $2B in assets was bottlenecked by due diligence. For each potential acquisition target, a team of three analysts would spend three weeks manually pulling financials from SEC filings, scanning news archives, searching court records for litigation history, and building competitive positioning maps.
The firm was evaluating 40+ targets per year but could only deep-dive on 15 due to capacity constraints. Analysts were spending 60% of their time on data gathering and only 40% on actual analysis - the part that required human judgment.
The Solution
We mapped the analysts' research workflow in a single day, identifying 12 distinct data gathering tasks that followed repeatable patterns. The system we built is a multi-source research pipeline that automatically pulls from SEC filings, financial databases, news APIs, court record systems, and competitive intelligence platforms.
Gemini 3.1 Pro handles the broad research sweeps - scanning hundreds of documents and flagging relevant sections. Claude Opus 4.6 then performs the structured analysis: extracting key financial metrics, identifying risk factors, and generating the narrative sections of the due diligence brief.
The output is a 40-60 page structured brief that follows the firm's existing template, complete with source citations and confidence scores for line-item finding. Analysts review and refine rather than research from scratch.
Results
This tool changed how we evaluate deals. We look at twice as many targets now with the same team.
